TradeSkillMaster 4.10 Teaser

It has been some time since we posted any updates here on the blog, the TSM team have been quite busy outside of the Auction House so far in 2019. Today however, we wanted to take a moment to share some insight as to what’s to come in the near future for TradeSkillMaster, with version 4.10.

New UI

One of the biggest areas we tackled in version 4.10 is a complete iteration on the UI and user interaction philosophy of the addon. Since the launch of version 4, we have read lots of discussions and comments with feedback on the design of the addon, both positive and negative, to understand the underlying reasons that created these feelings and experiences for you, the user.

We’ve made more efficient use of space and reduced the bulky overheads across the addon. In the primary interfaces such as Shopping, this gives more room to see the searches you use most often for example. Most of the buttons and actions most-used have been rearranged or moved to more prominent positions, creating a smoother flow as you move around the Auction House.

After running a shopping scan, the results are polished and clean making it easier to see the information you’re looking for at-a-glance. Columns are more clearly marked when sorted, and more of them are sortable. You can even resize them.

You may have noticed the pause button in the Shopping Scan screenshot, this is a new way of managing your scans and jumping in to buy something you spot that’s a crazy deal without losing your scan data, or even post items before your Auctioning scan is complete without needing to start over.

Custom Price & Value Improvements

Being able to reference your operation prices has been a popular request for some time, this will finally be possible in TSM 4.10. As an example, you have a Shopping Operation assigned to a group which provides a maximum shopping price for any item contained within it. This maximum shopping price can be referenced as a custom value in your Auctioning Operation assigned to the same group for example, or your minimum Auctioning price defined in the Auctioning operation can be referenced in your Shopping Operation. We think this will help create very powerful operations and tailor them even more to your preferences.

Empowering your operations even further, we will also be allowing the use of custom values and prices in some non-price fields. Take your Crafting Operation as an example, you may want to craft more or less of an item depending on its region sale rate, this will be possible by using a logic function in your max restock quantity instead of only using integers.

We are also exploring the addition of more value sources based on your own personal accounting data, such as sale rate to compliment existing purchase history and expiration data.

Crafting Spotlight: UI Improvements

Another common request is to replicate the default WoW UI with recipe pinning or favouriting. We have implemented this in to the TSM4 Crafting window and you can add your most commonly used recipes or cooldowns to the top of your recipe list, regardless of which expansion they’re from. Working in tandem with the Task List you’ll never miss a daily cooldown or restock. You’ll also have finer control over the Crafting Queue, with options to remove an item from the queue entirely with the click of a button regardless of quantity, and modifying the quantity on the fly with a text box instead of increments of 1.

As part of the general UI revamp, we have made more use of the space in this interface too. The materials required for a recipe has a bigger space to fill which is useful for those bigger crafts, plus the toggle between the recipe list and your TSM Group tree is more distinct for easier access.

We’re very excited for what’s to come with the version 4.10 of TradeSkillMaster, let us know what you think by joining the discussion on our Discord server, and be sure to follow us on Twitter for more news and updates!

TradeSkillMaster 4.5 released!

The latest version of TradeSkillMaster has been published, bringing the version to 4.5 (4.5.2 after hotfixes)! you can download directly from our site here: https://www.tradeskillmaster.com/install or grab it directly from Twitch/Curse.

Let’s take a look at some of the highlights of this release!

Changes to AuctionDB Pricing Data

After discussing with the community on Discord and reddit, we have decided to retire the ‘global’ level price sources in AuctionDB. Previously, this was a simple average between active regions (EU and US) – so if we were to add more regions in the future, such as Taiwan or Korea, this global price would logically average the price between all available regions which would no longer provide a valuable number. So after a transition period from the launch of 4.5, the following price sources will become invalid:

dbglobalmarketavg
dbglobalhistorical
dbglobalsaleavg

You may follow the prompt in-game after updating to map these to equivalent region level pricing via a custom price, or remove them from your operations.

Automatic Profession Groups

We’re very pleased to reintroduce this highly requested feature from TSM3, you can now create groups automatically based on your current professions!

Opening the profession window, selecting the Crafting Tab > Groups, there’s a new option under the three-dot context menu to create a group for your profession with two sub groups – one with everything you can craft and another with all the materials required for those crafts.

This provides a great starting point for any profession work, and allows for full customization on grouping preferences once everything is in an initial group. Note that this does not move any items that are already grouped.

Import UI Improvements

When you’re importing profiles or exports from your friends, you may not want to grab everything that comes with it. TSM now displays a better overview of what is to be imported and also allows you to remove specific items from the import before completion, as well as selecting to remove individual operations from the import. Once you’re happy with what is being imported, confirming will only import what you have selected.

Task List Improvements

You will notice two additional entries to the Task List in 4.5 – you will now be prompted when you have expired auctions on a character, or mail that is about to expire to save it from being lost to the nether. You can hide these as usual with the ‘eye’ icon.

Improved Messaging

Two updates to specific messaging have been implemented. The first in Mailing will now provide a summed total amount of gold collected from a mailbox.

Secondly, when an attempt to purchase an item from Sniper fails, the message will now be more verbose and print the item link of the item in chat that failed to purchase – on the occasion that the item is still there you can search for it and try again.

Various Bug Fixes

Several client freezes and crashes have been addressed, along with an occasional memory leak. An issue with the Mailbox persisting after closing and several UI misheaviors have been fixed.

You can view the full changelog of 4.5 here.

TradeSkillMaster 4.4.1 Released!

We’re pleased to reintroduce some popular requests for TradeSkillMaster with the release of version 4.4.1 along with some updates and bug fixes from several releases since version 4.2. Check out some of the highlights!

Crafting & Disenchant Search

We’re sure the Crafting Search is a welcome return to TSM. This search mode allows you to search for both the crafted item and the material component at the same time. This will also work for milled, prospected or transformed materials.

For example, searching for ‘copper bar/crafting’ will return Copper Bars and Copper Ore in the same results. Or alternatively, searching for ‘ashen pigment/crafting’ will return Ashen Pigment and the six Cataclysm herbs you can mill to produce the pigment.

Separated out from the TSM3 version of this function, the Disenchant Search is now its own flag in the Shopping module.

For example, searching for ‘temporal crystal/disenchant’ will search and return any items that disenchant into Temporal Crystals.

Gathering through the TaskList will fully utilise Crafting & Disenchanting searches.

Crafting UI

The materials list for a particular recipe has been tweaked to ensure text no longer clips and more materials are displayed for a much clearer overview of what a recipe required without further interaction.

In addition, you can now shift click items in and outside of your Crafting UI, such as the material list or your bags, to filter your recipes, link in chat or search on the Auction House.

Searching the Crafting UI by a material now also returns all crafts that uses that particular material. For example searching for ‘windwool cloth’ in your Tailoring profession will no longer simply return ‘Bolt of Windwool Cloth’ but also any crafts that require that item.

Deposit Fees

With the recent changes to the Auction House and an increased deposit fee of up to 20% on trade materials or crafting reagents, we’ve added the total deposit fee you’ll pay based on your auction buy out to the interface when you’re posting via the Auctioning or Shopping tab. This’ll help you better keep an eye on how much you’re spending to post your items and draw attention to when you could be spending too much to post certain stack sizes.

Auction Sale Notification

What better way to find out you’ve made a sale than to hear the satisfying ‘ka-ching!’ sound after someone buys your listed item. The option to enable the audible sale notification has been introduced in the Auctioning Settings.

Ledger Management

The Ledger has been updated to have finer control over individual records, you can now delete a purchase or sale entry at the item detail level by right clicking.

Destroying Tooltip Data

Milling, Prospecting and Disenchanting data for Battle for Azeroth items has been added to TSM. Your tooltips will be more accurate and show what you can get by destroying a particular item.

TradeSkillMaster 4.2 Released!

The team has been hard at work preparing and released updates very frequently since the launch of TSM4. And we wanted to share a bit of information on what has changed over the last couple of weeks with the release of version 4.2

The launch of Battle for Azeroth certainly drew out some new quirks and issues that weren’t apparent during the beta, however we have been quick to squash some particularly nasty issues such as the recent Auction House hotfix from Blizzard.

Let’s take a look through some of the highlights of the recent updates, and if you haven’t tried TSM4 since the initial release then now might be great time to dive in again!

Shopping

We heard you loud and clear regarding the Shopping interface, it wasn’t where it should have been and in some aspects was a step back from TSM3. A different design direction didn’t quite work out and we’ve given the Shopping interface a makeover. Reintroducing the ‘Post’ button, you can now throw the inconvenient hammer icon out and post an item even if there are none listed at the time. In addition, you can now see how many auctions are posted for a particular item and your own auctions or auctions you’ve placed a bid on are highlighted for quick reference. The ‘Stack Size’ and ‘Quantity’ data for auctions have now also been split into two columns for neater information, and there is now also an option to enable a confirmation button to all buyouts if you’d prefer to not to immediately purchase when clicking.

Inventory Viewer

The Inventory Viewer has made a return to the addon which gives you a perfect overview of all your stock. In this interface you can see the items on the Auction House, in your bags, banks, guild banks and also in the mail across every character.

Scaling

More interface upgrades have arrived with the introduction of UI scaling. As well as resizing the dimensions of a particular TSM window with the resizer in the lower right corner, you can hold the ‘shift’ key before resizing to alter the scale of the window too. Right-clicking the resizer will reset the dimensions and the scale of the particular window to default. Now you can make things a bit more readable or save some screen real estate while working through your gold-making strategies.

Profile Syncing

For those with multiple accounts, it’s now even easier to move your TSM setup to different accounts. After setting up an account sync within TSM, we have introduced an option to send your entire profile from one account to another. Naturally if your setup is quite extensive this may take a little longer than a few hyper-focused groups and operations.

Various Bug Fixes & Updates

Through more than 23 releases there have been dozens of bug fixes, issues resolved and behaviours tweaked. Major adjustments include accommodations for Blizzard’s horribly slow Auction Houses, optimisations for account syncing, updates to Vendoring, Mailing, Crafting, and Auctioning plus tons of workarounds for addon conflicts after the launch of Battle for Azeroth such as ElvUI, AllTheThings, and Bagnon.
